INTERREG VI – XTraVel Tourism
With 8 partners from the 5 departments of Hauts-de-France, East and West Flanders and Picardy Wallonia, the Maison du Tourisme Pays des Lacs aims to develop more sustainable tourism on the points-nœuds network and on the EV3, as well as develop an attractive tourist offering: themed cycle routes and immersive experiences to appeal to visitors.
Summary of achievements :
- Improving the existing points-nœuds network with an extension to the French Ardennes, and more specifically to the Botte de Givet;
- Creating and equipping rest and experiential socialising areas on the points-nœuds and EuroVelo 3 networks: rest and picnic areas, bicycle service stations, bicycle shelters and tourist information;
- Developing solutions adapted for customers with specific needs for one of our Access-i labelled cycle routes;
- Creating the Boucles de la Meuse: 1 to 7 day cycling trips around the Meuse;
- Developing the route: from the Sea to the Ardennes, which will link these two major centres via the Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse National Park and the Eau d’Heure Lakes;
- Creating train and cycle routes;
- Organising meetings between tourism stakeholders and providing tools to better accommodate cycling customers.
