Practical information
Description
On the third weekend of May, the medieval city gathers many companies of walkers with various costumes. As an integral part of the "Marches de l'Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse", the military procession honours Saint-Roch, patron saint of pilgrims, brotherhoods and corporations. Originating from the cholera epidemic that wreaked havoc on Thuin in 1866, this military march is still as popular with tourists. Classified UNESCO, this procession counts no less than 2000 walkers, most of whom parade in Napoleonic costumes.
