Description
As you depart from the city of Charleroi alongside the Sambre river, you are immersed in extraordinary industrial heritage, which is enhanced by the world of street art. The atmosphere in Thuin, where the flora and fauna become more diverse, is wilder. Your walk is punctuated by a series of picturesque locks. The omnipresence of pleasure boats is proof that Thuin, which is famous for its hanging gardens, was, and still is, important to the inland waterways. Take a detour via the Eau d’Heure lakes by means of RAVeL 109, and by following the junctions and municipal paths. This is one of the gems of tourism in Wallonia, thanks to its recreational and sports activities. Further along, at the end of Line 109, enjoy the laid-back ambience in Chimay with its beautiful heritage and delectable local produce, such as escavèche and its famous Trappist beer.
