Departure
Description
The walk crosses the historic centre of Thuin and its hanging gardens. As you pass through the streets and alleys, catch a glimpse of the gardens through the ‘corten’ steel gates. At the foot of the gardens, you will walk for a short while along the Biesmelle, a babbling little river that used to feed several bark mills that were part of the leather tanning process. Entering the woods will refresh you as you discover the Grand Bon Dieu woods with multiple facets: gym apparatus, contemporary sculptures and a relaxing area in the Hermitage clearing. Not to mention a few chapels of Saints with various virtues. The way back to Thuin also offers a pretty view over the south slope of the Mediaeval city.
